I see you and the obstacles you are facing.

In my 10+ years of being a speech therapist, the clientele with PPA have had the most impact on me. I have deep respect and compassion for those with PPA and their families.  Those with PPA are facing the uncertainty of this diagnosis, navigating role changes, and showing courage in the face of this unpredictable path.

You are not alone!

PPA is confusing to understand due to the complexity, variants, and progressive nature.  It can even be difficult for the speech therapist to understand and determine the right therapies. I've been there!

You may be asking yourself:

  •  WHY is this is happening?

  • Are there actual solutions?

  • How do I share this news with family or friends?

  • What are the variants/subtypes and WHY does it matter?

  • How will I communicate 10 years from now

Questions?

How long is this course and how do I access it?

This is a 2.25-hour self-paced course on the Teachable website. You can stop and start it or skip forward as much as you like.

Is this course applicable to those with PPA in the later stages?

Yes, this course also addresses why and how speech therapists are needed in the later stages.

How can a speech therapist use this course for their practice?

This course provides you with home exercise information in a practical, guided way for your clientele. It splits the evidence into sub-types. It teaches you how to justify seeing someone with a progressive disorder for therapy.

What AAC (alternative and augmentative communication) information is included?

Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) is a highly specialized area within the field of speech language pathology. In the course, you will learn a foundational knowledge base about AAC including options you can access now or funded devices you could get through insurance. I will be demonstrating how to use an AAC device and the benefits. If you are interested in learning more in depth information on AAC assessment and insurance funding, please reach out and I can offer you my AAC bonus lesson for a discounted rate (along with the purchase of the PPA Connections Course).

Why is the first module and handouts available on 10-18, and the rest available on 11-1?

When viewing complex course material, this type of content delivery called "drip delivery" allows for a gradual release of course materials, which can enhance the learning experience and create structure rather than simultaneously releasing everything which can be overwhelming.

How do I obtain professional development for the course?

Email slp.ambrozi@peakspeechtherapy.com in order to request the google form/quiz. This will be sent to your email via a link. Once complete, and passed with 90% accy, you will receive a PD certificate.
